COVID-19 has quickly spread worldwide since its initial detection in late 2019. COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus, is an upper respiratory infection and has been detected in over 140,000 cases in the state of New Jersey. Due to how recently the virus was discovered, research is currently underway to determine a vaccination as well as long-term effects from the virus. If you are exhibiting symptoms, you may be eligible for COVID-19 diagnostic testing at AFC Urgent Care North Bergen after a telemedicine screening.

Symptoms of COVID-19

Symptoms vary from case-to-case, and many patients have been asymptomatic. Symptoms can develop within fourteen days of initial exposure to the virus. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include:

  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Shortness of breath and congestion
  • Aches
  • Loss of taste and/or smell

How diagnostic testing works

Diagnostic testing is performed after patients have a telemedicine screening with one of our physicians. You will be able to go over your symptoms and your doctor will be able to determine whether you meet the center’s criteria for testing. When you come to our center, we ask that you wear a mask and call from your vehicle so we can direct you to the correct entrance for testing. A nasal swab will be taken of the lower nasal cavity and tested, with results available within a few days.
